The Central Bank of Turkey approved the issue of new Turkish lira

04.08.2023

The Central Bank of Turkey has approved the introduction of new banknotes in denominations of 500, 1000 and 2000 Turkish lira.
The decision was made in connection with the depreciation of the Turkish lira and rising prices for goods and services.
Currently, the largest banknote in circulation is 200 Turkish lira, however, due to a decrease in purchasing power, it is planned to issue new banknotes.
The official date of the introduction of the new banknotes into circulation has not yet been announced, but the Central Bank and the Mint are already working on their design. The new banknotes are expected to have a blue-turquoise color.
These changes are aimed at protecting and strengthening the value of the Turkish lira, and it is also expected that they will have a positive impact on the country’s economy and strengthen the position of the Turkish lira.
